Both Alan and his son, Hywel, are lifelong fans and proud supporters of Welsh Rugby and Cardiff Rugby Club. In fact, Alan served as a Board Member of Cardiff RFC Ltd from 1995-2000. The Peterson family’s horse racing colours are of course blue and black quarters to reflect the colours of Cardiff RFC; they even had a horse called Bleu et Noir!

Alan and Hywel have helped a number of high profile rugby players with their testimonials. Their involvement with these testimonials has included:

  • Alan & Hywel being lead organisers of the Rob Howley Testimonial in 2005
  • Alan being Chairman of the Martyn Williams Testimonial Year in 2010, and Hywel serving on the testimonial committee; where the beneficiary charities were NSPCC and Velindre
  • Alan being Chairman of the Ryan Jones Testimonial Year in 2013, and Hywel serving on the testimonial committee, where the beneficiary charity was the Welsh Guards Afghanistan Appeal.
  • Hywel served on the Gethin Jenkins Testimonial committee, where again the NSPCC was one of the beneficiary charities.
  • Hywel current serves as Testimonial Chairman for the Sam Warburton testimonial year with Alan as Senior Patron, the charities which will benefit from the testimonial year are NSPCC and Velindre Cancer Care.

It’s no surprise that both Alan and Hywel are passionate supporters of the Welsh rugby team and have been on a number of British and Irish Lions Tours as fans.

Other sports stars that Alan and Hywel have helped with their testimonial years include Cardiff & Wales prop, Andrew Lewis and Glamorgan cricketers, Mike Powell and Mark Wallace.
